You know as soon as you start listening to Edward Sol's “Family Nails” that you are entering a place where bad things have happened.

Who is the family in question? Is it Edward’s own bloodline or is it his Motherland, the war ravaged buildings of his home in Kiev, Ukraine.

There is a sense of conflict. Picking over the bones in the aftermath. The apprehensive search for beginning.

The album finishes on “Right Leg’s Shorter”. A twenty one minute trek towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

Are the family nails being driven or pulled?
